Spirit Day Wednesday: Dress as a Christmas Character

As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christmas, Lakeland Catholic School Division is pleased to share a special message from Archdiocesan Administrator Fr. Paul Kavanagh to the faithful of the Archdiocese of Edmonton.

In this brief video, Fr. Paul reflects the spirit of the season with words of gratitude and hope, and shares his commitment to pastoral service as he prepares to lead our local Church.

Priority 2: Miss Hoily is supporting vocabulary development through her authentic word of the week. When students are in the library, they are encouraged to learn the meaning of the new word and use it in their conversation throughout the week.

Grade 1ES celebrated St. Lucia Day a day early by making cinnamon buns and wearing candle crowns, freeing our hands to “share our light” just like St. Lucia did when she brought food and hope to early Christians hiding in the catacombs.

Priority 2: Students in Mrs. Mac’s kinder room have been working hard in their Literacy stations to practice their printing, phonics, reading behaviors, and building their fine motor skills.

Today is the Feast of Bl. Mary Frances Schervier. On the announcements this morning, we took a moment to learn about the feast day.

The Third Sunday of Advent Evening Meditation by St. Alphonsus Liguori.

The following meditation was written by St. Alphonsus Liguori (1696 – 1787) specifically for the season of Advent. This mediation is for the evening of the Third Sunday of Advent.

The meditations include three points and provides a reflection on God’s love for us, acts of contrition, and petitions for final perseverance. They conclude with a brief prayer to Our Blessed Mother.

Priority 2: Mrs. MacNiven’s students were blessed to have Ms. Stefanie from the Cold Lake First Nation’s Education team come in to talk to them about the importance of ribbon skirts and shirts. Students then had a chance to design their own. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
